Return to School Plans

Schools should not open fully unless there is a vaccine. They should open virtually. Many teachers are at risk and in danger of getting and not surviving COVID. There are students with underlying conditions that will be at risk as well. Teachers and students will need to wear masks, Use hand sanitizer, and get temperature checks throughout the day. They need to be socially distant and can’t leave the room etc. Teachers  could not work individually with students because they need to socially distant. It will be extremely difficult to keep kids 6 ft apart. Children just naturally want to be close and share. Schools would be used for child care purposes and not what being in school really means. In the fall the flu and other viruses are a possibility and it will be happening at the same time. If someone gets it the school would be closed for two weeks for cleaning and this could make students anxious and not feel safe. This could happen throughout the year and this would be disruptive. Schools could reopen virtually. There would be very robust lessons and all school work would be new and “graded”. Schools could always open later in the year once it is safe.
