Protect VA employees

The state of Virginia has been slow to respond to the crisis and to enforcing the necessary precautions needed to protect employees across the state. Across many industries it is well know that employees are vulnerable to exploitation and are subject to unsafe conditions with little power to negotiate for improved conditions and for safety measures on their own behalf. the government has the responsibility to ensure the safety of employees by requiring that all employers meet minimum safety standards to protect their employees during this crisis, employees should have been working toward safer workplaces of their own volition already and if they were mandating safe work environments including disinfecting, providing PPE should not pose an undue burden. Even if it is argued that the burden is significant it is warranted to protect not only their employees but their families and vulnerable members of our community. Please pass legislation to protect our workers!
