Employees of Essential Businesses

The government needs to do more to protect the employees of essential businesses. If an employee contracts the virus, their medical expenses should be covered under workman's compensation. They should as receive the equivalent of an average of their weekly check.

If the employee has a potential of coming in contact with more than 50 different individuals in a day, those employees deserve hazard pay OR the ability to choose to not work until the threat of the pandemic is over without the get of loosing their jobs.

The employer should be mandated to close the facility and do a deep clean at least once a month, preferably every other week, until the threat has subsided.

All employees should be given hand sanitizer, masks, and other protective gear (depending on job) as well as the ability to leave their station every couple of hours (more frequently for those exposed to more individuals) to thoroughly wash their hands.

If an co-worker tests positive, the employer should be made to notify every employee, pay for them to be tested, close the facility to be deep cleaned and pay the associates who missed work as a result of the facility beimg closed.

Since those on unemployment were given extra during this time, the employees of essential businesses should be given a tax break when they file their taxes.
