As a Ph.D. student in Counseling Psychology who is an expert in mental health inequities, I urge you to ban conversion "therapy." Not only is it widely denounced as unethical by a multitude of state and national mental health associations, it has been repeatedly found it research to be harmful to those who go through it with significantly elevated suicide attempts, mental health disorders, and substance use and abuse risks. Because of this, conversion "therapy" is a public health risk.
