opposition to the proposed changes

I stand with my state association in my view regarding the proposed changes:

"The Speech-Language Hearing Association of Virginia (SHAV) opposes the proposed changes by the Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) to the Virginia school-based Medicaid reimbursement program."

Our job in the school system is to treat students with disabilities that have an educational impact. It is not relevant to have a physician order services that are medically necessary in the academic environment.  Not only would this likely decrease our reimbursement, but it would send all of the therapists, nurses, etc. chasing down signatures and paperwork that would take away from actually treating the students who need the help.

Please reconsider implementing these proposed changes.
