I support the change of regulations to remove the proof of surgical procedure to update your birth certificate gender marker. One’s gender identity is not necessarily linked to their genitals and many transgender people opt not to undergo gender confirmation surgery for a multitude of reasons. These choices should be made between an individual and their team of healthcare providers that are guiding them on their personal path through transition. On top of changing this requirement, their should be the option to have a non-binary gender marker as well for those individuals who see probably even less options available to them than the transgender population.
