Acupunctrure is the insertion of  needles into the skin at specific points.  These specific points are called acupuncture points. Trigger points or tender points are inlcuded in acupuncture points. Dry needling is the inertion of needles into the skin at trigger points (acupuncture points). So dry needling is acupuncture. Acupuncture license is required to practise dry needling (acupuncture)!!!
