As a physician with over 50 years experience, I strongly support the need for strong standards for the operation of all medical clinics, especially those providing services independent of strong affiliations with back up medical programs. Without such regulations, patients using these services are at risk for serious medical and psychiatric (I am a board certified psychiatrist) adverse outcomes such as have been documented in Philadelphia (see Gosnell). To water down these regulations will condemn these patients (who are often disproportionately of minority or low income with little options for care) to substandard and truly dangerous "care". This type of medical abuse cannot be tolerated!
