As a retired Registered Nurse with a MS degree in Medical-Surgical Nursing, I feel qualified to speak about having safety regulations in abortion clinics. All medical facilities need supervision because without inspections, the clinics can slip below recognized standards for the safety of their patients.
We all know that the desired outcome of an abortion is a dead baby, but the mother ought not to lose her life as well. The regulations put into place in Virginia were not excessive. One example is that the hallways in abortion facilities need to be large enough to bring a stretcher in to rescue the mother if she needs to be taken to a hospital. That seems like a commonsense regulation.
The other regulations were also commonsense rules, and they should not be taken away.
Sincerely, Mary W Bell
