As a homeowner in New Kent County, an avid equestrian, and a business woman, I encourage the Racing Commission to expedite the passing of pro-racing legislation and historical racing machine regulations which will allow Colonial Downs to once again become a beautiful and vibrant asset for our community.  Not only will this bring in valuable tax income into New Kent but it will help the tourism in both Williamsburg and Richmond and stimulate the growth of our area.  Equines are a huge part of Virginia’s heritage and culture.  Riders come from all over the country to compete and train in Virginia.  Bringing horse racing back to the commonwealth will help to continue this tradition and stimulate the adoption and retraining of these wonderful animals once they are done with their racing careers.
