As a , lifetime resident I was hopeful that Va.would support this track , but in true Va. Style they ignore the cash cow and screw the citizens. The bickering and confused rules surrounding parimutual betting caused the first group to just throw in the towel and I fear the new group will suffer the same fate . 

The idea that this facility can cover it's expenses and turn a profit is a pipe dream with out the support of the legislature  . The Indian tribes are already chomping at the bit to assert their sovereignty and create real casino s while our new friends at Colonial are limited to horse racing and what ever else they can conjure to draw a crowd .

I wish these folks the best , but until the conservative legislature realizes they are not needed as nannies or the morality police this will fail . Some slots , table games and poker tournaments would elevate this facility to a real boon to the people and state of va.
