Concerns over proposed changes

As a full-time working household, we did our due diligence when searching for childcare for both of our children. When enrolled our son nearly 2 years ago at a small, Christian daycare center and last spring, we enrolled our daughter. We chose the center for multiple reasons, first and foremost is the "gut" feeling we got when we visited the center. The teacher/student ratio works well, and the curriculum taught made us comfortable. Thankfully, it is close to our home as well.

Changes, such as the proposed, will encourage (and maybe require) parents to find alternative childcare in unlicensed/unregulated daycares and schools. I love the idea of a smaller classroom and more one-on-one attention for my little one, but I do not think having already established schools cut students/families out is the solution. Perhaps having a phased approach and allowing centers to gradually decrease their enrollment is feasible. I am however, aware that these changes will increase tuition in an already expensive market. Currently we spend nearly $25,000 each year in childcare alone, and increasing that figure is a burden that we cannot afford.

I respectfully request that you reconsider the classroom size proposal and leave well enough alone.
