I completely support PTs administrating dry needling.
I was diagnosed with degenerative joint disease last summer. The pain was so severe I couldn't lift my 9 month old daughter. I had tried daily chiropractic care, massage and acupuncture, and got no relief.
My PT recommended dry needling and it has been HUGE in releasing pain and stress and delivering strength and mobility. I can work my care plan, and minimize flare ups- I can't thank them enough!
Their seems to be some mis-education that PTs are not licensed or trained to perform this procedure safely and effectively. This is simply not true. This legislation needs to be called what it is- a way for industry to limit those that can administrate dry needling and patients to go to someone other than PTs for the practice.
For me (and my now 17 month old daughter), I thank my physical therapists for the relief!
