I am writing on behalf of the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners (VCNP) in support of the proposed action to amend 18 VAC 90-40-10 to clarify the requirements of site visits by physicians who oversee the practice of nurse practitioners with prescriptive authority.

Clarification of the physician oversight requirement for those nurse practitioners who practice in public health, federally funded clinics, or nonprofit health clinics, will reduce confusion and misinterpretation and better protect the health and safety of patients receiving care under such agreements.
