Preserve Vital Health and Safety Regulations for Virginia Women

In regards to the regulations on the abortion industry in order to preserve women's health and safety, it is important to not think so much on the issue of abortion itself, which has been and will continue to be passionaitely debated for a long time.

In this case, the issue at hand is the safety of women receiving abortions, NOT the overturning of Roe v. Wade like many people on both sides of the aisle may be tempted to infer.  Setting aside my personal beliefs regarding abortion for the time being, it is imperative that we put the health and safety of women ABOVE AND BEFORE the concerns of abortion health clinics.

If I say that I believe doctors and dentists should have regulations which they all must abide by, I expect that they will do so out of concern for their patients.  However, this does not make me "anti-dentist" or "anti-patient".  Rules are in place to ensure the well-being of the aforementioned subjects.  In this case, there should be commonsense regulations on those who practice abortion, since a SURGICAL PROCEDURE is being performed.

Please, not because of the whole abortion debate but out of concern for the women whom your decision will affect, allow safety regulations to be imposed for abortion facilities to avoid the maiming and deaths of women at clinics.  I would hope that both sides of the debate, whether pro-life or pro-abortion, would agree that we want to do everything in our power to prevent horrors such as those that occurred under Kermit Gosnell and Steven Brigham's & Nicola Riley's facilities to occur ever again.  Thank you for your consideration.

“After the woman suffered a ruptured uterus, state officials said Riley put the patient in Brigham’s rented Chevrolet Malibu and drove her Union Hospital in Elkton. The board said she sat in slumped in a wheelchair, nearly unconscious, outside the emergency room, while Riley argued with hospital staff, demanding their identities before treating the woman.
