Maintain Health and Safety Standards for Virginia Women!

The sacred responsibilities of government include but are not limited to (1) the protection of our citizens from all enemies, foreign and domestic; and (2) the establisment, maintenance and strenghthening of public health and safety standards to ensure citizens are protected from avoidable harm.  Hospitals and clinics within the proud state of Virginia should lead our nation in providing nothing but the highest standard of care for every patient!  Any attempt to (1) delete the requirement of abortion facilities to have transfer agreements with hospitals for needed emergency treatment; or (2) remove the requirement to provide STD testing consisitent with CDC guidelines for women who present for an abortion; or (3) eliminate the requirement to give post-abortion counseling; or (4) take away regulatory language which states that an abortion facility is a category of hospital would be nothing short of a dilution of standards that diminishes and harms the care deserved by Virginia's women.  Every hospital and clinic in Virginia providing any level of service and care to women or men should never be considered for a reduction of standards--in fact, our governor, elected officials and various oversight boards should work diligently to increase standards of health and safety--reject these proposals outright!
