As a patient of both Dry needling and Acupuncture, I can assure you that PT's are just under-trained acupuncture practitioners. Those who say the techniques and goals are different are lying. The techniques are the same in trigger-point acupuncture and in dry needling. I know multiple people in Colorado who have tried both, and multiple people who were injured by overly aggressive PT dry needling by under-trained practitioners. While PTs may have great knowledge of anamtoy, they have minimal knowledge or respect for the use of needles. Acupuncturists are far less likely to cause harm. Let each profession do what they are best at.
