Abortion clinic regulations are necessary to protect women

Virginia law currently protects women from the dangers of unsanitary and unsafe abortion clinic practices seen in other states. If I get a haircut, the salon is required by law to ensure my safety through common sense practices such as disinfecting combs and brushes. If I get a manicure, the salon is required to clean and disinfect tools used before and after my manicure. However, unlike a haircut or manicure, an abortion is invasive and has the potential to take the life of a woman through complications such as infection or cardiac arrest. Common sense practices that require clinics to maintain a certain level of sanitation or that require CPR equipment on the premises should not be questioned. To remove these regulations would be a step back in time to the dark ages of medicine when diagnoses were based on the four humors and germs were unheard of.

Please protect the women of Virginia by preserving these common sense requirements.
