Expiration Dates Irrelevant to Establishing ID

The June 10th language defining acceptable photo ID should remain in the regulations unchanged.  The purpose of the requirement that voters present a photo ID was to prevent a person from voting under the name of another person.  The June 10th language accomlishes the purpose of officially showing the name and photograph of a person together on a document.  Expiration dates on those documents relate to other functions that have nothing to do with voting.  Whether a person is still competent to drive a motor vehicle, does not change who that person is.  Those who argue that expiration dates should be considered are revealing their own purpose for this law, which is to exclude people from voting especially the elderly and the poor.  Voter suppression is wrong.  Do not make the photo ID requirement more restrictive than it needs to be.
