Pregnant Inmate Restraints Should Be Eliminated to Protect the Unborn and the Inmate

I think it is time that we treated inmates humanely and cared enough for them to protect their unborn babies and their physical health.  To unnecessarilly restrict and restrain inmates, expecially pregnant ones  or ones who are post partum, could lead to injuries to the mother and her baby or even death.  No matter what her crime, the welfare of the mother and the baby should be formost in the treatment of the inmate.  I hope you will disallow the use of restraints for pregnant inmates or those who have recently given birth.
