Anyone taking their pet to the vet has the right to know who is actually treating their pet.  And with the price of vet care (one of highest paid professions) we certainly have the right for the best care possible.  If vet students are not getting enough time with actually animals, give them more time in their 4th year, but ALWAYS with a licensed vet present!  They need to be fully trained before seeing any animals.  The lives of these animals are at stake and the owners have a right to have the best care for their beloved pets.
