There are already enough limits as to what students should read. Teachers know and understand the material they are teaching to students, often for purposes besides the plot (Rhetoric, imagery, syntax etc.). If more limitations are added then what will teachers have left to teach us? Our vocabulary and english ability will be seriously diminished, and our knowledge will be hindered. Certaintly, the things considered contraversial are often something students surround themselves with anyway on a daily basis (ex: news, highschool in general, T.V. shows). This, and how does one "grow up" in high school if they aren't exposed to these things? We, as students, are responsible enough to know our boundries. We don't need parents who aren't even in the same discrict of ours deciding our education completly. Schools already "baby" us enough as it is, and extending these limitations will make the situation worse, and ludicrous (within opionon, of course). From experience, I have not heard a student complain about the content in the book.
Besides this, we believe high schools should be an exception of this Amendment. Refering to Middle and Elementry schools, we believe they're young enough for their parents to decide what content is and is not appropriate. High school students are almost adults. We should be treated as such.
