It certainly sounds legitimate that a parent would be notified when there is questionable material being assigned to their children.  Parents are given the authority to raise the child and therefore should be working with the school concerning the educaiton of their child.  I would hope the Board would be in agreement that parents should be notified when there is an assignment of  sexually explicit material being required by the child.
