I believe we must pass this amendment. The fact that we have to even consider this amendment indicates that some educators have lost perspective. Our goal in education should be to develop student interest in learning, not to sway thinking with "Shock & Awe". There are some topics that students probably should not be educated in at the secondary school level, especially from a teacher that may have an agenda. Parents have the right to raise their children within their value system, while expecting a well-rounded public education that does not violate those boundaries.

I believe we can help students develop an interest in reading without enticing them with explicit materials.  We have more religious and moral diversity in our school systems than ever before, and that trend will continue.  What happens when a parent states that they disagree with the material?  Is it removed from the course content?  Is the student excluded, and therefore missing out on their education?  If we have to ask whether it is sensitive, then it probably is.  I believe a teacher should have to provide specific justification why sensitive material must be used.  If it is required to master the course objectives, it is required for all courses in the state?  If not, maybe there is a better way.
