REJECT This Amendment

This amendment is disheartening, to say the least.  As a Language Arts teacher, parent, and former student of the Virginia public school system, I am appalled at the nature of this amendment.  How does this benefit our students in any way?  By hindering their exposure to important literature, which is so often deemed as "sensitive material," are we engaging their minds and broadening their comprehension skills?  This amendment will do a harsh disservice to our students.

As a parent, I am concerned about my daughter's intellectual stimulation in the classroom, because it will not exist.  I believe it is our jobs, as parents, to educate our children about what is right and wrong.  It should not fall on teachers' shoulders to inform over one hundred families a year about potentially "sensitive" materials.  Please do our children a favor and reject this amendment.
