I am writing to request that incarcerated women be allowed to labor without restraint. The labor process depends on the womans ability to be upright and move around including squatting, kneeling, being on hands and knees, ect. Having a woman contrained also impairs the care givers from being able to work with the woman in a safe way.
There must be another effort that can be made to insure that woman are not allowed to escape which do not involve physical restraint during the laboring process. Please consider the physiologic needs of labor woman and free them up to labor as is natural to them.
Thank you for your consideration in this matter,
Melinda McLaren
