It is shameful that our state's Board of Health has failed the most basic test of any decision-making in their field: is the action recommended supported by current medical science? These new regulations do not enhance patient care, do not improve services being delivered, nor guard women's health, safety or welfare. The TRAP regulations hide behind a false "concern" for women but they have not fooled Virginians. Certainly, as a registered nurse with more than 30 years of professional experience in healthcare in this state, they do not fool me. And as a colleague, I ask you to search your heart for the truth: that these regulations are unnecessary, and will result in MORE suffering of Virginia's women and children as access to safe, effective and affordable reproductive health care disppears from the vast majority of our local communities.Please take action to avoid this impending disaster. It is your duty, and your pledge.
