I am writing on behalf of the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners (VCNP) in support of the proposed regulations specifying the duration of a provisional license granted to an applicant for licensure as a nurse practitioner.

VCNP supports the advancement of qualified nurse practitioners and the proposed regulatory change is in keeping with our mission.  Not only does the proposed regulation clarify the duration of a provisional license, but it better protects against the possibility of unqualified individuals practicing as nurse practitioners.
