In the previous post of suggestions I did forget to include one very important factor affecting us providers. The MCOs are not allowing us to submit addendums that change place of service, change 97153 to group 97154 or request additional units while mid authorization period and the units have not been expunged yet.
However if the clinician thinks further units are required and they are utilizing more units than allowed per authorization, then mid authorization say 3/4 months into the period the allotted per authorization units will expire. At that time if a new request is submitted and denied further, this will leave a client without services for months until a new 6-month plan can be submitted.
