Oppose Support Broker Model

The proposed Support Broker model raises significant concerns about the loss of established community-based services. Services Facilitation is much more than an administrative function. Services Facilitators provide information and referral, help families navigate complicated systems, connect individuals with local resources, and support independence. Replacing this structure with individual independent contractors risks losing the training, supervision, continuity, and infrastructure that established organizations provide. I encourage DMAS to preserve the ability to contract with qualified Virginia-based organizations that have demonstrated experience providing high-quality services, particularly in rural communities where local connections are essential.
