Against Brokerage Model

My family is strongly opposed to the proposed DMAS changes that would replace Services Facilitation with a support brokerage model. Our services facilitator has helped my family navigate a complicated Medicaid waiver system, helped us understand requirements, avoid service interruptions and access resources that support our loved one at home and in the community.

I am especially concerned about losing the ability to choose a services facilitation provider that meets our family's individual needs. Choice and competition help ensure quality services and allows my family to build trusted relationships with professionals who understand our unique circumstances.

We have been using services facilitation for over 20 years and would be very upset and concerned if this changes to a brokerage model which will be sterile and non personable.

Services Facilitation make a real difference in the lives of Virginians living with disabilities. As a mother of a 32 year old disabled son, we do not want this to pass.

Thank you for listening,

Lillian, John and Daniel Barnhart
