ISSUES AT LRNC

My mom has been a resident at LNRC for 3 years.  In the beginning care was good, nurses would listen to your concerns and problems were solved.  The last 2 years her care has been in decline.  They have had 3 administrators in 3 years.  Nursing staff has had alot of turnovers and they never have enough staff to cover the residents there.  The food is terrible. I would bring food to mom and she would scarf down the food like she hadn't eaten in days.  I watched her try and eat a piece of chicken that even I had a hard time cutting up.  I asked them if it could be noted somewhere that she needs her food cut up and they said yes, but that never happened.  Also they never fill up her water. She has had numerous UTI's.  She is in a wheelchair and not able to get up and walk around on her own.  Sometimes I come in the afternoon and she is still in bed.  The nurses and CNA have to hide supplies because they never have enough.  The CNA didn't have any gloves to wear. No diapers for residents. No wipes for residents. Last week mom passed out while sitting in the hallway in the wheelchair and no one noticed. Finally one CNA came by and took her in the room to bring her to.  All the other nurses were in a meeting.  One CNA for the whole floor.  Buzzers are unplugged so they are not bothered. When you call there, either no one answers and you cannot leave a message because the voicemail is full.  After her "spell" they called it, I called 5 times and finally someone answered, got transferred to the second floor, left a message and 5 days later have yet to receive a return call.  LRNC CANNOT EVEN PROVIDE THE BASIC NEEDS OF MY MOM AND THE RESIDENTS THERE. We complain, call, fill out grievances and nothing happens. How can these places get by with not providing efficient care to their elderly residents? The nurses and CNA's know it is their word against an elderly person who maybe of the right mind or not.  And resident's are afraid to say anything for retailation.  The son of a resident there said his mom said a young CNA with pink hair told her she needed to by euthanized. What kind of respect is this for an elderly resident?  I am hoping that something comes from all of this.  It is sad that children and the elderly who need help, get the worse care because they cannot provide for themselves and they do not have a voice in this society. You always hear about the horror stories about nursing homes, but you cannot even imagine until you have a loved one who resides there.  We have to go there and check on things and feed my mom every couple days to keep her alive. We cannot depend of them to take care of her even though they are receiving payment to do so.  They spent money updating the building but left the residents with no supplies and necessities. That tells you they are only in it for the money not the care of the residents.  Please do something to make this better. The residents deserve to be cared for and feel secure that someone will be there when they need them.
