Menhaden Fishing has been going on for 150 years in the Chesapeake Bay. The Menhaden stocks are extremely strong. The Chesapeake Bay is in a terrible state of health because of Sewage, Farm Runoff, and just too many homes being built too close to the waters edge. The Fisherman are not the problem. In January I personally recorded more Menhaden Bodies in the Chesapeake Bay on my Sonar and Depth Recorder than I have ever seen in my 40 years of being a Commercial Menhaden Captain. Thats a FACT, not a made up story. You will hear stories of the starving Ospreys and Rockfish. Not true. They are in abundance also. I spend most of my life actually on the Chesapeake Bay. Not googling the false info that the Chesapeake Bay Foundation constantly puts out there for anyone gullible enough to believe.
Thank you,
