I live in Alexandria and oppose the language and spirit of Petition 432.

I understand that the petitioner are concerned about collegiate sports. This petition goes WAY beyond that. It labels groups of people harmful based on who they are. 

Around the country and in Virginia, people are attacking trans people as dangerous, instead of focusing on evidence-based, widespread, verifiable threats to health and safety of trans and ALL people. The language of this petition is broad, vague, and can be used to exclude fellow Virginians from their rights to everyday life.

I am friends with several people who have transitioned over the past 15 years or so. They are individuals who came to their transition after years of distress and tough decision-making. They do not need yet another barrier imposed by the potential discrimination possible under this petition.
