I live in Toano and I oppose Petition 432.
I am a cis-gender woman, and count among my friends a number of queer and transgender people. I know them to be thoughtful, caring people, and upstanding citizens of Virginia who seek the same protections guaranteed to all citizens of the Commonwealth. In my experience and reading, I see transgender people most often the subject of persecution rather than its instigators. These people are a vital part of our communities and contribute to the richness of our human society. They deserve our support in upholding the difficult decision to simply be themselves.
