I have lived in Virginia for more than forty years. I strongly oppose this petition.
This has nothing to do with women's health or safety and everything to do with discrimination against and policing of transgender women. Trans women have always existed and will continue to exist throughout the world despite these types of attempts to ban them. Perhaps take some time to get to know someone's trans daughter or a trans neighbor. You will learn there is no need to be hateful or hurtful.
This resolution is harmful and dangerous to all women. You probably haven't thought of the consequences. Do you want a monitor in every woman's room and locker-room, patting you down? Or asking to look under your skirt or in your pants? Instead of tax dollars funding such monitors or the extra police needed to enforce this absurd resolution, perhaps public funds would be better used for healthcare for those Virginians who need it. Or if safety is truly a concern, fund metal detectors in public schools to keep out guns and knives.
This resolution should not be adopted.
