I strongly oppose this petition as it is NOT even remotely about safety. It is a continuation of the attempt to advance the narrative of hate and fear and discrimination against trans people, that has come to characterize the narrow-minded efforts the Family Foundation. As a Virginian, this is unacceptable.

The Department of Health serves to protect the health and promote the well-being of all Virginians regardless of race, background, or genders. We ALL deserve to be treated fairly and the DOH’s mission should include blocking efforts by ill-intentioned politicians and interest groups that are trying to force transgender people and LGBTQ+ people out of public life.

Political attacks that foster discrimination are a cheap way to distract us from the real problems we face. That’s the idea, right? Attack and blame others who are less powerful for your problems rather than try to solve them like a decent human being. The twisted irony that this hateful group calls itself the Family Foundation. Since when was hate a family value?
