I'm commenting in support of the Virginia art therapy license. It has been many years in the making and I am happy to see that there will be. Licensure, that will put us on par with our other master's level clinicians, as well as recognition of the art therapy profession as a mental health provider to many people who would benefit from it, including the military with whom I have worked for most of my career.  Having A license will provide greater availability for services to people who need it. It will also protect the public from people who claim to practice art therapy but are not masters level trained to do so.
