Optometrists are simply not trained to perform the requested surgeries nor are they trained to understand the indications or manage the complications of them. 
Requests to expand surgical scope for improved access to care is dangerous and leaves our most vulnerable patients with substandard and potentially blinding care. I strongly oppose this legislation.
