Reports indicate that kratom can cause serious toxicity and overdose. The FDA has linked several deaths to kratom use, often in combination with other substances. The CDC reported that between 2011 and 2017, there were 152 kratom-involved deaths, with 91 of those deaths involving kratom as the only substance detected.
