Poison Control Center Data

Data from poison control centers show a significant increase in calls related to kratom exposure. According to the National Poison Data System (NPDS), there were over 2,300 kratom-related calls between 2011 and 2017, with the number of calls increasing each year. The symptoms reported include tachycardia, agitation, drowsiness, nausea, and hypertension.
Out of these calls, a substantial portion resulted in moderate to major medical outcomes, indicating serious health risks. Approximately 32% of these cases resulted in hospitalization or emergency medical treatment.
