I strongly disagree with the petition to make kratom illegal. It is a natural alternative to opioids and other addictive medications that kill. It is a plant leaf that is all. It has a ceiling effect that will not cause an overdose. It does not kill. Look at the numbers of how many people have died from kratom alone with no other drugs in there system. There has been none from unadulterated leaf kratom. Now compare that with prescription opioids especially fentanyl. Hundreds of thousands of people have died. If you make kratom illegal you will be forcing even more people to the black market thinking there buying a pain pill for there pain and it ends up being fentanyl and another person dies. There are a lot of people who used to use opioids and turn to kratom for there pain so they don’t turn back to opioids because of there pain. It also has great antidepressant and anti anxiety properties. It’s a safe plant to use. It would be devestating to take this away from people who need it and cause much more deaths. This is a safe alternative that does not kill. I believe there should be some oversight and regulation to make sure the kratom is tested and unadulterated. It should be available to the people that need it. Haven’t we learned that prohibition does not work and only causes more harm than a substance itself would be ecspecially kratom with its safety profile. Fuels black markets and people using way more dangerous drugs that will kill them. I finish by saying this. Please if anything regulate kratom but do not take this natural plant based medicine from the people who need it desperately.
