We need to start managing for abundance rather than maximum sustainable yield. With most of our Atlantic and Gulf species reliant on menhaden, we need to change this game.
We need a healthy bay, invasive species control and tighter regulations / lower quotas.
I have an extensive background in commercial, recreational charter and recreational fisheries. We continue to get worse and lose viable species. Abundant forage helps insulate against rising temperatures, deteriorating water quality and extreme weather events.
Please do the right thing for our collective future, not just for Omega Protein. I oppose seine usage in shallow waters.
Thank you,
