I do not support the limiting of purse sein gear in the Chesapeake Bay. There are not current data or studies to show that the gear used or net depth is the reason for disruptions in the ecosystem. There is no evidence to support this petition. The only reason this petition exists is to continue to fuel the argument to ban Menhaden fisheries out of the Bay. The folks who are against the industry and who want to see it gone are quite honestly grasping for straws in order to push their agenda-an agenda that has become so radical and irreverent that it truly has lost all merit. Again, I DO NOT support this petition as there is zero evidence to justify this call to change. There are many users of the Bay. It's time to STOP blaming one entity for every single environmental change.
