I would like to express my support for changes to how purse seine nets are being used in waters outside the Chesapeake bay. I am a lifetime VA resident and recreational fisherman. I support changing practices that damage our ecosystem and all game fish in the bay. The use of purse seine nets over 60 feet does not allow non targeted maríne to escape, and contributes to spills, by catch, net tears, and wasting of the resources of our fishery. Virginians depend on these game fish for livelihood, food, and enjoyment and we must help support a sustainable fishery for all by limiting these harmful practices.
