Protect Menhaden

Please take action to prevent the use of seafloor-damaging purse seines by participants in the Chesapeake menhaden reduction fishery. It's bad enough that we tolerate the Omega/Cooke fleet's persistent flouting of the rules by taking too many fish from inside the Bay, but to learn that the gear they are using is causing damage to the delicate undersea ecosystem by damaging the seafloor should be enough for the Commonwealth of Virginia to take action.

Require that Omega/Cooke use shallower purse seines and if it can be determined that they knowingly damaged the seafloor in the past and continued with the practice, take legal action to recover costs associated with the damage done to the vital Chesapeake Bay ecosystem. Thank you.
