I agree with petition

I strongly agree with this petition, over the past years I have seen a massive reduction in bait fish as well as game fish in the local area. (Virginia Beach and eastern shores) this is crushing the ecosystem in the bay and in order to protect our waters and natural resources we need to drastically cut down on netting all together. As someone who has traveled the world I have seen other ecosystems that are barren because of over fishing and little to none regulations on netting and over fishing. I’ve seen local populations of other countries eat mullet and shad because that’s all they have left in the waterways and bays. If we don’t act now we will be even worse off than that due to nets and over fishing.

yes, I am aware that while they are not targeting protected species such as striped bass and red drum and speckled trout. Their nets don’t know that. And they scoop up whatever is in the waters without hesitation or restraint.

as a recreational angler I practice the law and do my part, on a individual basis, but these big corporations have quotas and bag limits that sky rocket way over what it would take to make it a stable fishery.
