Parents of special needs children, particularly of those children who will continue to need care, feeding, bathing, etc. all through their adult lives are under a particularly difficult burden. It's exponentially more difficult than typical child-rearing. This small extra income makes a big difference in being able to fund respite. And it's a small enough sum that we personally have not been able to find suitable folks to perform the same tasks for us with the same care for that small amount of money.
