I support this simple and common sense proposal to coordinate determination of eligibility for jury service with maintaining accurate voter rolls. For example, if a person states he or she is not a citizen when summoned for jury duty that person should be removed from the voter rolls.

My two suggestions are: 1) Make it mandatory for all Virginia local officials to participate. Otherwise, my concern is that officials in certain jurisdictions may prefer to keep inaccurate voter rolls in the hopes of advantaging their preferred political party by making it easier for non citizens or vote. 2) This new framework should be leveraged to do a broader clean up of the voter rolls to remove the thousands of Virginians who move to another state. For example, as the Virginia DMV receives notice that a former resident has moved to another state and cancelled the Virginia driver license then local officials should be notified to remove that voter from the rolls. While many people give little thought to cancelling their voter registration when they move, having hundreds of thousands of ghost registrations left presents security risks in an era when so many people vote by mail.
