Inadequate support

It is recommended that the limit of 40 hours per week for paid caregivers be revised, considering the circumstances of families with a child with severe disabilities. Such children often require around-the-clock care, and restricting the hours to 40 per week may result in inadequate support.

Instead, the number of hours should be based on the approved care needs of the child, ensuring that families can access the necessary caregiving hours required to maintain their child's well-being and quality of life. This modification would greatly alleviate the immense burden of struggling families already coping with the challenges of caring for a child with severe disabilities.
